INTRODUCTION
GEMONT, having established an impeccable reputation in turnkey erections of industrial installations, including steel structure fabrication, electrical and instrumentation erection, has decided in 1994 to meet the customers’ high quality and short delivery time requirements and collected its steel structure production facilities under the same roof in its factory in Izmit.
GEMONT factory provides high quality steel structure for turnkey GEMONT projects and third party orders according to international standards and customer requirements. The capacity of the factory is 800 tons/month, however at peak times it can increase up to 1500 tons. Average workforce is approximately 120 people. This figure is subject to variation depending on the workload at different times.
GEMONT factory fabrication experience and capabilities include such items as handling equipment, portal cranes, overhead cranes, temper furnace, conveyors, ship unloader, reclaimers, space truss, building steel structure, mechanical steel structure, tanks, silos, bunkers and ducts. The total area of the factory is 30.000 m2 with a covered area of 12.000 m2 consisting of four halls. There are two overhead cranes in each hall. There are a total of 10 overhead cranes in the factory with capacities ranging from 5 to 20 tons. There is also a 4.000 m2 open stock area equipped with a 30 ton portal crane, which can also be utilized as a fabrication area and a painting shop.
Plates and profiles are cleaned by grid blasting and primary painting is done before manufacturing. After manufacturing is over, the products are cleaned and painted again. There is a special profile welding line to manufacture H, IPE and box profiles of 200 mm to 2000 mm height. Bending and shearing machines are capable of working sheets up to 16mm thick and 3000mm wide. The optical torch can operate up to 250 mm thickness. Argon welding, electrical arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and submerged arc welding are performed in the factory by certificated welders. Non-destructive testing of the welds and quality reports are performed and submitted by TUV SUD.
